Since it's founding, McFadden has been involved with the communities we serve. As an independent agent, we are able to support the local newspaper and other publications through advertising; purchase tickets for fundraisers; sponsor programming, and return money to the community.
From selling tickets and cooking for the CHS athletic booster steak fry to sponsoring teams at the Minerva YMCA and middle school, McFadden agents support youth sports. Chris runs the chains at CHS football games;
When the Carroll County YMCA set out to completely remodel its facilities, McFadden Insurance was one of the major supporters. Chris also served on their Board and helped with many of the fundraisers.
Carrollton Civic Club
Both Rick and Chris have served as President of the Carrollton Civic Club; Chris' term is now semi-President-for-life.
Year round, the club raises funds and participates in community service projects. In winter the guys deliver meals on Thanksgiving, presents to families at Christmas, hold the community Distinguished Service Award Banquet.
Summer projects include Rallys in the Alley—a fundraiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters ; preparing and tossing hot dogs in community parades; mulching and landscape work at Kiddieland Park and the Town Square; cooking picnic lunches for grades 6-12 the last weeks of school;
Carroll County Historical Society
Each year, Rick and Chris join the many community members who work at the Algonquin Mill Fall Festival. For three days they and the Civic Club serve up to 15,000 pancakes, sausages, biscuits and gravy. This event is the major fundraiser for the yearly operations of the Historical Society and the Algonquin Mill complex.
Through the partnership, it's also the major fundraiser for the Civic Club.
In recent years, the partnership has expanded to include the CHS JROTC. These fine young men and women are required substantial community service time to remain in the program; more to advance to leadership positions.
Rick serves on the Board and as President of the Carroll County Foundation. This community fund supports scholarships and projects throughout the county.
Each Thanksgiving weekend, hundreds of neighbors past and present gather to raise funds for scholarships for CHS young adults. Since 2001, this event has raised more than $50,000, sponsoring some 21 scholarships.
With the 2011 event, the committee is able to endow a fund with the Carroll County Foundation.
With the Civic Club and Wheeler Construction, Chris and Rick helped rebuild the utility barn at Community Park, and have helped with park maintenance. The relationship continues with financial support of the Fall Festival and other activities.
